45 Rallies covering 12 to 15 villages each have been organized where in the Upkar members wear special aprons with printed slogans shouting messages like "" ( Give up drug addiction and save life), (Leave drugs and enjoy life).

15 Street plays in public places in villages and public parks have been organized spoantaneously without special light or sound arrangement. 15 Stage plays through Pargati Kala Kendar Landhra have been organized in indoor halls in the city area and in educational institutes mostly in the evening hours wherein maximum public participation was there.

During rallies, seminars, cultural programmes etc., literature is circulated amongst the teachers, Sarpanches, Panches, Municipal Counsellors etc. On the spot paintings and declamation contests have been arranged in the educational institutions, with the help of Upkar's own film projector. The Society has screened about 50 films show on the subject in evening hours in the villages as well as in the urban areas. Pre-Counselling camps regarding drug- de-addiction are held through experts wherein the family members of the addict are motivated to convince the addict to under go de- addiction.

After the awareness campaign, many drug addicts volunteered to get the treatment. During the year 2006, 250 Drug addicts were treated in the 5 camps organised for 15 days, free of cost.

2 camps were held at PHC Sujjon, one each at Civil Hospital Banga and Balachour and last camp at Bhogal Ind. Focal Point, Nawanshahr.

At present, we have 20 bed Drug Deaddiction centre run by the State Red Cross Society at Bhucchar Dharamshala, Railway Road,Nsr.(Ph :01823641706). The willing patients are referred to for treatment, wherein medication is free and the patients have to bear only their dietary expenses(Rs. 1000 p.m.).

There is another De-addiction center at the Guru Nanak Mission Charitable Hospital, Dhaha Kaleran(Ph:01823260260) wherein also the addicts are reffered to for treatment.

Presently emphasis is laid on follow up of cases treated through the De-addiction centre.

Consequent upon successful de-addiction of an addict, the society follows up him/her for around 6 months. It is ensured that he/she is gainfully employed to earn his living, cutting himself/herself of his/her previous pattern of life.
